Cricket, teams and records

Explore Langleybury’s published playing records, cup honours, junior pathway and women’s cricket, with dated sources and clear statistical scope.

The club’s cricket history can be read at several levels: national cup campaigns, individual performances, the work of different XIs and the ways people first came into the game. This section brings those records together without treating one team’s achievements as the whole story.

Results and exceptional performances

The cup honours guide distinguishes fully documented finals from honours preserved in later club histories. The published records cover selected batting, bowling, fielding and partnership figures across the senior and Development XIs.

One innings stands out: Shahzad Malik’s 403 in 2005, against Middlesex Tamils in the Bertie Joel Cup. Specialist records, the Club Cricket Conference and the club’s own tables support the score. Some details often repeated with it remain disputed.

Routes into the game

Junior cricket is documented in the 1988 programme and later records. Steven Finn’s own recollections and early club performances provide a particularly clear individual thread through that history.

Women’s cricket has a different surviving record, including the Pinot Grigio Eleven, friendly matches and charity fundraising reported in 2013. The absence of a team from a later league or council table does not establish that its cricket had ended.

Reading the figures

The club record sheets available in November 2026 contain entries through 2025. Their coverage headings describe the scope of the tables, not necessarily the year each XI was created. The figures here are attributed published records, rather than the result of a fresh audit of every scorebook. The archive guide explains how scorecards and record sheets can be used together.
