Documents with a story to tell

The 1988 testimonial programme contains a club history, officers’ names, player portraits, advertisements and proposed teams. It is one of the richest single sources for Langleybury in the 1980s.

The BBC’s 1975 Going Places listing identifies a television segment about Langleybury’s match with Isleham. The listing is verified; the footage has not been reviewed for this archive.

The 1996 final scorecard supplies the actual Lord’s XI and numerical result. The published club records extend that statistical view across other teams and seasons.

The old website as a historical source

Older pages on this domain preserve the club’s own accounts of its past. A 2015 capture supplies one of the founding-year claims and several honours. The recovered Alan Bunn notice supplies an earlier club tribute and a dated sequence of service.

These historical pages are sources for a new, independent archive. They do not imply that the present publisher is the former website operator or has inherited the club’s identity.

Finding and understanding material

The photographs and records guide identifies useful collections and explains the difference between an event date, a publication date and an upload date. The source catalogue provides a route to the underlying records and notes which remain research leads.
